F1PL Hall of Fame

Welcome to the Hall of Fame, a page celebrating those previous winners, and an insight into the humble origins of the F1PL you know today.

2000 - Graham Spowart
Graham Spowart Back in 2000, F1PL was less of a website and more of an Excel spreadsheet. The players, who were all either related to or worked with the creators would email their top six in, and on the Monday after every race, an email was sent out with the standings. At the end of that year, our inaugural champion was Graham Spowart, proving that age is no handicap in the predictions business.

2001 - Douglas Blanc & Rosie Frost
Sticking with the spreadsheet for a second year, a tense competition was fought out, and going into the final round, Gregor and Rosie Frost were separated by only a couple of points. Somehow though, Doug Blanc came from nowhere to take the win, which was later split with Rosie after a late points update, following a disqualification from the US GP for Jarno Trulli.

2002 - No champion - honourable mentions to Iain MacKenzie & Andrew Sloan
The 2002 league didn't quite make it much past the third race, after a change of location, and loss of internet access of the spreadsheet keeper. However, at the time of closure, either Iain or Andrew were leading, or maybe sharing the lead (I can't remember really). Maybe they could've gone on to win, but we'll never know. They certainly didn't get a mug, as the budget was blown with the two mugs from the year before.

2003 - Chris Wilson
In 2003, F1PL.com was born, and opened up to a whole lot more people, some of whom we didn't know at all! Chris Wilson took the lead of Ferrari and made it a very dull year, placing Schumacher and Barrichello in postions 1 and 2 for each race and held on to win at the end of the year.

2004 - Chris Wilson
Once again, and in a year of the most crushingly depressing Ferrari domination, Chris was able to use his sucessful system in 2004 to take the championship for a second time in a row. Interestingly, Chris has not yet recieved his mugs, but they are less than two miles from his house.

2005 - Andrew Oates
Andrew Oates Newbie member, and F1 insider, Andrew Oates bossed it in 2005, taking the lead early on and proving that there is no substitute for years of professionally watching F1 races from an enormous, cold, silver tent, round the back of the pits at the circuit the race is actually happening from.

2006 - Jim Stewart
Jim was there at the start and was rewarded for some shrewd predictions and a late challenge from some young pretenders to take the championship and, of course, the champions mug (except that the mug was stolen by the postman).
